Bakewell & Haddon Hall
This morning we journey to the lovely Peak District town of Bakewell, home of the famous Bakewell pudding. Next, it's on to the beautiful English country house, Haddon Hall, with included entry. Haddon has been used by many film-makers over the years due to its picturesque setting.
This morning we journey to the lovely Peak District town of Bakewell. Legend has it that the town's famous Pudding was created by mistake by a local cook in the mid-19th century. Today, her delectable 'jam tart that went wrong' can be sampled at various cafés and posted virtually anywhere in the world! There is a traditional, bustling market taking place on Mondays in the heart of the town. This afternoon we include a visit to the beautiful English country house, Haddon Hall. Film-makers have flocked to Haddon Hall to use it as a location; the house and grounds have played host to various adaptations of ‘Jane Eyre’, as well as ‘Pride & Prejudice’ (2005), ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ and ‘Mary Queen of Scots.’ Please note: There are many uneven floors and steps around the site due to the age and architecture of the building.
