Situated in Cheshire, Quarry Bank is one of Britains greatest industrial heritage sites and home to a complete industrial community, set in picturesque gardens and countryside.
Here you can discover more about the global cotton trade at the start of the industrial revolution; get a sense of the working conditions for the men, women and children who toiled in the mill; experience heritage machinery in action and feel the floor vibrate beneath your feet as the spinning machines turn and the looms weave. There's the Weaving Shed Restaurant, Upper Garden Café and Stables ice cream parlour where you can obtain refreshments on-site, in addition to the Mill Shop, Garden Shop and the second hand bookshop.
Jackie in our reservations team recently enjoyed a day out to this highly-rated National Trust property and shares some of the highlights of her trip.
She said: I thoroughly enjoyed exploring our industrial heritage at Quarry Bank Mill, spending four hours there but could have easily stayed longer as theres so much to see and do! Apprentice House was both enlightening and grim, and the grounds were wonderful in Spring flora. Highly recommend this trip to G-Line customers at any time of year.
Jackie is often seen checking out G-Line destinations to provide imagery for our website and tips for the suitability of our clients. Watch this space for her review of Llanberis Lake Railway and the Royal Victoria Hotel in Caernarfon, Wales.
