A Journey to the Highlands

Our new early-season coach holiday, 'Fort, Loch & Line' was a huge success, and we can't wait to run this tour again next year!

 

Our base was the Alexandra Hotel located in the town centre of Fort William, a 3* hotel that has been welcoming guests since Victorian times, with a friendly atmosphere and comfortable, well-equipped accommodation. All bedrooms are en-suite and have TV and tea & coffee making facilities. Fort William enjoys a dramatic setting on the shores of Loch Linnhe and under the mighty bulk of Ben Nevis. The town is also home to the West Highland Museum, which houses a large collection of Jacobite memorabilia.

 

One highlight of the 5-day holiday was a journey on the Welsh Highland Line, made famous by the Harry Potter films as Harry makes his way to school on the Hogwarts Express. Our clients enjoyed a round trip of 84 miles from Fort William over the magnificent 21arch Glenfinnan Viaduct, past the silver sands of Morar to the busy fishing port of Mallaig, with time to explore before the return journey.

 

Another highlight was a spectacular day out to Spean Bridge, with the Commando Memorial, then along Glen Moriston to Loch Ness and Fort Augustus, where the Caledonian Canal meets Loch Ness. Our clients enjoyed time to explore and have a bite to eat, before we returned along Loch Lochy to Fort William.

 

One couple on the tour said: "A very enjoyable holiday, we saw lots of beautiful scenery and sights. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the food was good. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful."

 

Another client kindly wrote: "The holiday, a gift from my son, was wonderful. I have to say our driver Andrew was responsible for making this holiday one I shall never forget, and was sorry to be going home from.
